About Our Residency Program
A five-year residency program with world-class training in general urology, endourology/stone disease, neuro-urology, urologic oncology, reconstruction and pediatric urology
Training residents has long been a major mission at BIDMC's Division of Urologic Surgery—for many decades as affiliates with Brigham & Women’s Hospital, and more recently with Lahey Clinic. Given the outstanding educational opportunities at BIDMC, growth of our clinical volume and increase in complement of faculty in different disciplines of urology, we set a goal to start our own independent residency program. As a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, we have continued our tradition of extraordinary resident education and established our independent residency program in July 2019.
Program Highlights
- Exposure to tertiary and community urologic care
- Expert training in robotic, minimally invasive and laparoscopic surgery
- A Resident Clinic dedicated to resident training where residents will have the opportunity to care for their own patients with direct faculty support and supervision
- Time reserved for research and an elective clinical experience to explore specific areas of interest
BIDMC Urology Anki Deck
The BIDMC Urology faculty has collaborated with the Urology Student Anki Group to create an Anki question deck designed to help medical students prepare for sub-internships and PGY-1 year. Anki is a flashcard app used to learn and study new material. The BIDMC Urology Anki question deck covers core urologic concepts for medical students across the spectrum of urologic conditions, including urologic emergencies, BPH, erectile dysfunction, voiding dysfunction, UTIs, pediatrics, and nephrolithiasis.

Rotation Grid
As part of Harvard Medical School residency, residents will participate in rotations at the following institutions—Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital- Needham (BID-Needham), and Boston Children's Hospital (BCH).
