BIDMC began the state's Determination of Need (DoN) process for the new inpatient building project by filing an application with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) on July 30, 2018.

The DoN application and related materials can be found on the Department of Public Health Website.

The DoN was approved at a meeting of DPH’s Public Health Council on January 9, 2019, and Notice of Final Action was issued by DPH on January 10, 2019.

BIDMC filed an Environmental Notification Form (ENF), which was published by the Secretary of Energy & Environmental Affairs in the Environmental Monitor on March 7, 2018. The Secretary's Certificate was received April 6, 2018.
