Pablo Quintero Pinzón, MD

Pablo Quintero Pinzón is the Director of Underrepresented in Medicine Trainee Affairs for the Department of Medicine, Director of the Cardiovascular Latinx Clinic, and a member of the Division of Cardiology/ Advanced Heart Failure at BIDMC. He received his medical degree from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (Bogota, Colombia) and completed his residency in Internal Medicine and subspecialty training in Cardiology at BIDMC. He subsequently completed an Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant fellowship at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. During his cardiology training, he worked in Dr. Anthony Rosenzweig’s laboratory studying molecular mechanisms involved in heart failure remodeling that included TGF-β pathway family members. After joining BIDMC as faculty, he created a Heart Failure Bio-repository in order to facilitate translational research efforts within the division. He also leads a multidisciplinary amyloid clinic. He is actively working with other Spanish-speaking providers across the medical center to create a system that facilitates medical access to the Latinx community with the goal of providing culturally oriented care.

Ria Roberts, MD

Ria Roberts is the Director for Diversity Recruitment and Retention for the BIDMC Internal Medicine Residency Program as well as the Director of Graduate Medical Education (GME) Diversity, Inclusion and Advocacy. She is originally from the Caribbean Island of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and completed her medical school tenure at The George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences. There, she became a published first author on several biomedical articles on the Vitamin D status in black individuals and was awarded the highest research honor for medical student research. She subsequently completed her residency training in Internal Medicine/Primary Care, with a Clinician Educator Distinction, at Yale New Haven Hospital. During that time, Dr. Roberts was also named Young Physician Leader by the Connecticut State Medical Society and Yale-New Haven Health. She then came to BIDMC as a fellow in the Harvard Medical School Multicampus Geriatric Fellowship Program. During her fellowship year, she co-authored a Chapter in Hazzard's Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology entitled Syncope and Dizziness in the Older Adult and completed the Shapiro Institute Medical Education Scholarship Program. Dr. Roberts is currently a Staff Physician at Element Care-PACE (Program for All-inclusive Care for the Elderly). Additionally, she is a Clinical Instructor in Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Nocturnist within Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians.

Emmanuel Mensah, MD, MBA

Emmanuel Mensah is the Director, Mentorship of Underrepresented in Medicine and one of the Firm Chiefs in the Department of Medicine. He earned his MD at Harvard Medical School and MBA at Harvard Business School. He completed residency in Internal Medicine (Primary Care) at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. After residency, he split his time between practicing medicine at BIDMC, practicing medicine at Tema General Hospital in Ghana, and working in Management Consulting at McKinsey and Company. As a management consultant, his interest and work focused on healthcare delivery systems and strategy for various clients along the healthcare value chain. His academic interests are in health disparities and unconscious bias and its impact on patient care. He teaches lectures on the topic at multiple Grand Rounds, Harvard Medical School and as a keynote speaker at various events. Dr. Mensah is also currently the West Africa Lead for the NCDI Poverty Network, working with stakeholders and Ministries of Health in West African countries to address the burden of severe non-communicable diseases among the poorest patients in low-income countries.

Daniele Ölveczky, MD, MS

Daniele Ölveczky attended Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine where she obtained an MD and a Master’s degree in Neuroscience. She completed her residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center followed by a geriatrics fellowship at BIDMC and BWH. She is a hospitalist at BIDMC where she works primarily as a nocturnist. She is also a local lead principal investigator for the NIH sponsored trial of Bias Reduction in Medicine (BRIM) for the Department of Medicine at BIDMC. BRIM will implement interventions which have been shown to be successful in changing faculty behavior, improving department climate, and increasing the hiring of women faculty. She is also the Interim Physician Director for the Center for Diversity Equity and Inclusion at BIDMC and is in the process of implementing and studying upstander/micro-aggression response education for all faculty and trainees, institution wide.
