Jiang Laboratory
The Jiang Lab is interested in the pathophysiology of fatty liver diseases, including nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and alcoholic hepatitis. Ongoing research focuses on understanding the roles of macrophage activation in nonalcoholic steatohepatitis via the expression of adenosine deaminases. In alcoholic hepatitis, we study the roles of abnormal lipoproteins in the injury of hepatocytes leading to inflammation using a human alcoholic hepatitis registry as well as animal models. The studies aim at understanding critical pathways in the disease pathogenesis toward the development of novel therapeutic strategies. Ongoing studies are supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), and the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD).
