Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) offers fellowship programs providing invaluable experience to future leaders in the fields of psychiatry and psychology.

Consultation-Liaison (CL) Psychiatry Fellowship

The Harvard Medical School (HMS) Department of Psychiatry at BIDMC and the Veteran Affairs (VA) Boston Healthcare System are sponsoring one year of study at the intersection of Psychiatry and other specialties such as Internal Medicine, Neurology, Transplant Surgery, and more. This is an ACGME-accredited fellowship that aims to equip fellows with a breadth of skills, greater understanding, and greater appreciation for the holistic nature of psychiatric care.

Two fellow positions are open for 2023-2024.

Fellows will have academic appointments as Clinical Fellows in the Harvard Medical School Department of Psychiatry. Fellows will have the opportunity to help educate and supervise Harvard Medical School students and Psychiatry residents.

Fellows will participate in regular clinical seminars, case conferences, and intensive supervision with expert HMS faculty.

Fellows will be employed by BIDMC. The PGY-5 salary at BIDMC is competitive and includes full BIDMC employee benefits. Fellows will have a stipend for professional/educational development.

Clinical Psychology Postdoctoral Fellowship

The Clinical Psychology Postdoctoral Fellowship is embedded in the Emerging Young Adult Services program of the Massachusetts Mental Health Center (MMHC), part of the Department of Mental Health (DMH) in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The Emerging Young Adult Service provides individual psychotherapy, medication management, group therapy, substance use counseling, and a milieu environment to DMH-connected young adults ages 18 to 26 diagnosed with severe mental illness. It is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of providers including a child and adolescent psychiatrist, a clinical psychologist, and several clinical social workers.

The activities of the fellowship will be evenly split between research and clinical activities and will include supervision and training activities as well. Applicants should have a strong interest in delivering high quality, evidence-based mental health care to individuals from historically underserved and underrepresented communities and in program evaluation and development. This position provides an opportunity for an early-career psychologist to become invested in building and evaluating programs within DMH in order to ensure that we are providing effective and efficient treatment to the populations we serve.

Clinical Neuropsychology Postdoctoral Fellowship

The Clinical Neuropsychology Postdoctoral Fellowship includes a range of training experiences to enhance knowledge of clinical psychology, neuropsychological theory, neuroanatomy, cognitive neuroscience, clinical neurology, neuropsychiatry, neuroimaging, and therapeutic interventions.

Consistent with the Houston Conference guidelines on Specialty Education and Training in Clinical Neuropsychology, this fellowship promotes development of core neuropsychological competencies in assessment, intervention, consultation, supervision, research and professional development. Training involves a combination of clinical, academic and research experiences to prepare students for board certification through the American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology (AACN).
