I have had the pleasure to work with and mentor 170 undergraduate and graduate students and post-doctoral fellows from my early career days to date. I have learned as much from them, if not more, as I have taught them. I consider this to be one of my greatest contributions to the field. Together, we have produced a body of work, consisting of over 150 peer-reviewed publications, 2 books, more than 15 patents and patent applications, 5 startups and over 200 abstracts and conference proceedings. I have managed to lead a relatively small but highly motivated group to think outside the box, work hard, produce, and have fun in the process.

My primary focus is on translational studies, where we can identify an unmet clinical need and set out to find appropriate solutions. Relying on my biomechanics, bioimaging and animal models expertise, I have forged partnerships with clinical and research collaborators to establish a cohesive and results oriented network.

My other activities include service as editorial staff on 2 journals, ad hoc reviewer for 17 journals in the field, invited lectures in the United States and abroad and participation in the HMS International Research Initiative, the HMS Explorations Program and the Massachusetts State Science and Engineering Fair as a judge.
